Summary
Sensitivity labels can be applied to files to keep them compliant with the University’s information protection policies. This article provides steps on how to apply sensitivity labels to Microsoft 365 files in desktop and web applications.

Available Sensitivity Labels
Users may choose one of the following sensitive labels.
Non-Sensitive
- Tier 0: Public Information
- Tier 1: Business Information

- Tier 3: Restricted Information

Applying Sensitivity Labels
Desktop and Web Applications: Title Bar
This section covers applying sensitive labels from the title bar in an Microsoft 365 file.

(1) In Title Bar, next to the file name, select the Sensitivity icon (shield).

(2) From the Sensitivity dropdown, choose a Sensitivity label.

(3) The Sensitivity label will display in the Title Bar next to the file name.

To remove or change a Sensitivity label, repeat steps 1 and 2. Choose the applied Sensitivity label again to remove it. You will be prompted to include a justification when removing or changing files previously labeled Sensitive.
Desktop and Web Applications: Sensitivity Menu
This section covers applying Sensitivity labels from the Home menu ribbon.

(1) From the Home tab, select the Sensitivity menu.

(3) The Sensitivity label will display with a green checkmark on the Sensitivity menu and the Title Bar.
