Microsoft Teams - Creating a Class Team

This article provides a step-by-step guide for creating a Class Team in Microsoft Teams. A Class Team is a Team that is associated with a course in Canvas. The Microsoft Sync integration ensures that the Team membership is kept up-to-date with the Canvas course membership. 

You can create a Class Team by enabling the Microsoft Sync integration in your Canvas course.


Step 1: Navigate to the Settings page in the Canvas course where you would like to create a Class Team.

Step 2: Select the Integrations tab.

Step 2: Select the State slider for Microsoft Sync to activate it.

Within an hour, a new Class Team associated with your Canvas course will be created. Check the Teams tab in the Microsoft Teams application to verify that the new Class Team has been created.
