This article provides steps for setting up a Turnitin Assignment in Canvas.
What is Turnitin?
Turnitin is a plagiarism detection tool that can be used to support academic integrity.

(1) From the course navigation, click Assignments.

(2) Click the + Assignment button.
|
 |
|
(3) Enter the (a) Assignment Name, (b) Instructions and the (c) Points.
Set the (d) Assignment Group (if applicable) and (e) Display Grade as format.

| (4) From the Submission Type dropdown select External Tool then click Find. |
 |
| (5) Select Turnitin then click the Select button. |
 |
| (6) Optional: Check the box to Load This Tool In A New Tab. This opens the assignment in a new browser tab. |

(7) Set Allowed Attempts to Unlimited.
IMPORTANT: Attempts and Anonymous Grading are controlled in the Turnitin Settings.

(8) From Assign to, choose Everyone or select specific students or sections.
(9) Set the Due Date.
IMPORTANT: Turnitin requires a due date.
If needed, set Available from and Until dates.

| (10) Save & Publish the assignment. |
