This article provides steps for setting up a Turnitin Assignment in Canvas.
What is Turnitin?
Turnitin is a plagiarism detection tool that can be used to support academic integrity.
(1) From the course navigation, click Assignments.

(2) Click the + Assignment button.
|
|
(3) Enter the (a) Assignment Name, (b) Instructions and the (c) Points.
Set the (d) Assignment Group (if applicable) and (e) Display Grade as format.

(4) From the Submission Type dropdown select External Tool then click Find. |
|
(5) Select Turnitin then click the Select button. |
|
(6) Optional: Check the box to Load This Tool In A New Tab. This opens the assignment in a new browser tab. |

(7) Set Allowed Attempts to Unlimited.
IMPORTANT: Attempts and Anonymous Grading are controlled in the Turnitin Settings.

(8) From Assign to, choose Everyone or select specific students or sections.
(9) Set the Due Date.
IMPORTANT: Turnitin requires a due date.
If needed, set Available from and Until dates.

(10) Save & Publish the assignment. |
