Google Chrome stores cached data—such as browsing history, cookies, and images—to help pages load faster. Over time, this data can become outdated or corrupted, causing websites to display incorrectly or fail to load. 

This article walks you through how to clear your browser data in Google Chrome on a laptop or desktop.

(1)    Launch Chrome.

(2) From the Chrome toolbar:

(a) Choose More (three vertical dots in top-right corner).

(b) Choose Delete browsing data.

TIP: Users can also access Delete browsing data by pressing Ctrl+Shift+Delete (Windows) or Command+Shift+Delete (Mac).

(3) From the Delete browsing data menu:

(a) Choose the timeframe for which you want to delete browsing data.

TIP: Try clearing recent data first before deleting older data.

(b) Select the types of data to delete.

TIP: Clear cookies and cached data first to troubleshoot site and page errors.

(c) Click the Delete from this device button

(4) Close and relaunch Chrome.
