Summary

The OneDrive Canvas integration allows faculty to directly access and share documents and files stored in OneDrive in Canvas.

Things to Know

Documents and files stored in your OneDrive are private, unless shared using one of the methods below.
After a document or file has been shared via the OneDrive integration in Canvas, instructors will need to edit the file through Canvas to make updates or changes.

Assignments

Enabling OneDrive in Assignments allows students to submit files stored in their University OneDrive into an Assignment.

(1) Click +Assignment or edit an existing assignment.

(2) Set Submission Type to Online then select File Uploads.

Student View

Rich Content Editor (RCE)

The RCE is used when creating pages, discussion posts, announcements, etc.

(1) From the RCE Apps menu, select Microsoft One Drive.

Note: You may be prompted to log in.

(2) Select the file then choose how (Embed or Link) you want the file/document to appear in Canvas.

Modules

(1) From the Module header, click the + add item icon.

(2) Set the Add dropdown to External Tool. From the list of external tools, locate and click Microsoft OneDrive.

(4) Choose the document/file to be added then click Select.

(5) Click Add Item.

Important: Do not change the URL. This is the link to the file in OneDrive.

Optional: Customize the Page Name.
