Overview
The university’s Microsoft licensing provides access to M365 Copilot Chat.
Copilot Chat is AI chat grounded in data from the web and powered by the latest large language models (LLMs). Copilot Chat lets users access agents and create them in the Microsoft 365 Copilot app. Additionally, they can use features like Copilot Pages, file upload, and image generation.
Data Security and Protection
- Only data classified as tiers 0 and 1 are approved for use within M365 Copilot Chat. Confidential and restricted data are NOT approved [Policy 308: Data Classification and Handling].
- M365 Copilot Chat is approved for use because it offers appropriate data protection from Microsoft.
- Using M365Copilot Chat helps prevent the leakage of confidential information, while using non-approved AI tools violates federal regulatory compliance requirements AND University policy.
