Overview
Remote access is available to employees and approved external vendors who require connectivity to the University network to perform authorized work.
VPN creates a secure connection between a device and the University network.
Things to Know
Preferred Service
- The preferred service for providing Remote Access is Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD).
- Remote Access through VPN will only be provided in cases when access cannot be provided through AVD.
Employees
- Approval Required: Supervisor approval is required for remote access.
- Audit & Renewal: ITS will periodically review access to ensure continued Remote Access use is still needed.

External Vendors
- Sponsor Required: An FSU user must request and sponsor vendor access and ensure compliance with University policies.
- Time‑Limited Access: Vendor access is granted for 90 days; extensions may be requested in 30‑day increments.

Personal Devices: Installing remote access applications on personal devices is prohibited.
