Overview
VPN access is limited to employees who need to remotely access certain systems and external vendors needing to complete work for FSU.
When possible,
Remote Desktop is preferred for remotely accessing campus services and systems.
What is VPN?
A virtual private network creates a secure connection between a device and a network.
VPN on Personal Devices
Employees are only allowed to install VPN on their university-issued computer.
Access Renewal
Employees
- VPN Access must be renewed each summer.
- You will receive an email when it’s time to renew.
- Annual attestation is required for services providing access to potentially sensitive data.
Vendors
- An FSU user must request and sponsor a vendor’s VPN access. The sponsor is responsible for ensuring the vendor follows University policies & procedures.
- External vendors are granted access for 90 days to complete work. External vendors are granted access for 90 days to complete work. Access can be extended in 30-day increments until work is complete.
