Microsoft Copilot Chat

Overview

The university’s Microsoft licensing provides all users access to M365 Copilot Chat.

Copilot Chat is AI chat grounded in data from the web and powered by the latest large language models (LLMs). Copilot Chat lets users access agents and create them in the Microsoft 365 Copilot app. Additionally, they can use features like Copilot Pages, file upload, and image generation.

Students

  • To protect your data privacy and security, use FSU Approved AI tools.
  • Students who use unlicensed AI tools are responsible for understanding the associated privacy, security, and data-handling risks.

Employees

  • Only data classified as tiers 0 and 1 are approved for use within M365 Copilot Chat. Confidential and restricted data are NOT approved [Policy 308: Data Classification and Handling].
  • Using M365Copilot Chat helps prevent the leakage of confidential information, while using non-approved AI tools violates federal regulatory compliance requirements AND University policy.
  • M365 Copilot Chat is approved for use because it offers appropriate data protection from Microsoft.
