Freshman Laptop Program

Overview

The freshman laptop program provides all incoming freshmen with a Windows computer specifically configured to meet their academic needs and contributes to creating an inclusive, and forward-thinking campus environment.

Terms & Conditions

  • Laptops must be returned if a student withdraws from the university.
  • Students who graduate may be able to keep their laptops. Specific academic conditions may apply; details will be provided upon distribution.
  • Each freshman must agree to and sign a Student Laptop Agreement.

Laptops come with a five-year warranty covering certain repairs.

What kind of laptop will I receive?

  • The laptop provided is a Windows Lenovo model with ample configurations suitable for coursework.
  • Macs are not available as part of this program. Students interested in purchasing a Mac should consider the recommended specs detailed in this University-Recommend Student Computers article.

When will I receive my laptop?

  • Freshmen will receive their laptops during the orientation or within the first few weeks of the semester.
  • Specific distribution dates will be communicated through your student email.

How will I receive my laptop?

  • Laptops will be distributed from the Technology Support Center during designated scheduled pick-up events.
  • Students unable to attend a pick-up event, alternate arrangements will be made, which may include pick-up at a designated location or shipment.

How do DE (Distance Education) students obtain their laptops?

  • For students who are unable to come to campus, laptops may be shipped directly to your address on file, pending funding availability. Please ensure your contact details are updated to avoid any delays.

What if I don't want or need a laptop?

If you already own a laptop or choose not to participate in the program, you can opt out. More details on the opt-out process will be provided at orientation or via the university’s student portal.
